Jaguars star WR Parker Washington put the offense on his back in the team's miraculous win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jacksonville Jaguars’ star wide receiver Parker Washington wasn’t going to be denied two weeks in a row.

After being held to a single catch for only seven yards in Jacksonville’s Week 4 road win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Washington put the offense on his back in the Jaguars’ 19-17 walk-off win over the Philadelphia Eagles in London that was nothing short of miraculous.

In a game where Jacksonville shot itself in the foot repeatedly, Washington was there to stitch up the wounds.

The fourth-year star finished the day with six catches for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Washington opened the scoring with a 51-yard touchdown in the first quarter that he caught around midfield and outran the defense down the sideline before cutting back inside to finish off the last 20 yards.

Washington continues to prove he is Jacksonville’s most dynamic player, and his explosiveness was on full display at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Washington Kept Jaguars In The Game

In a game where the offense couldn’t stop making mistakes, Washington kept the Jaguars in the game.

Jacksonville was penalized 13 times for 100 yards on the day, and a majority of the flags were either false starts or holding calls on the offensive line.

However, Washington was able to make several catches to get back some of the yardage. Without his efforts, the offense would have had no answers for Philadelphia’s swarming defense.

Eagles’ defensive tackle Jalen Carter was a one-man wrecking crew on Sunday. He was absolutely unblockable all day. Carter sacked Trevor Lawrence twice, resulting in fumbles that the Jaguars were lucky to recover. He also had three tackles for loss and batted down a pass for good measure.

Philly’s defense held most of Jacksonville’s stable of offensive weapons in check on Sunday.

Not Washington.

Unbelievable Touchdown Put Jaguars In Front

The Eagles went ahead 14-10 with about five minutes to go in the second quarter, a lead which they were able to hold for almost the rest of the rest of the game.

Almost.

On a fourth-and-five from the Philadelphia 27, Jacksonville head coach Liam Coen decided to go for it, passing on a 45-yard field goal, which would have brought the Jaguars within one with still over three minutes left.

After going for it twice in goal-to-go situations resulted in zero points, Washington made sure going for it this time was the right decision.

Lawrence went for it all, and Washington made sure they got it. His unreal one-handed grab gave Jacksonville its first lead since his first-quarter TD put the Jaguars up 7-0.

That go-ahead score was just the latest, but one of the most important additions in the ever-growing highlight reel Washington has made for himself since the midway point of last season.

Of course, it would take one more miracle for the Jaguars to earn the win.

Cam Little missed the extra point after Washington’s go-ahead TD. DT DaVon Hamilton, who had to be the team’s emergency long snapper after Pro Bowler Ross Matiscik left the game with an early injury, snapped it high, throwing it off the whole operation.

With the Jaguars only up two, 16-14, the Eagles only needed a field goal to win the game.

That’s exactly what they got. After Jake Elliott’s 48-yard field goal gave Philly a 17-16 lead with only eight seconds left, it looked like Jacksonville’s mistakes would cost them a win, but the Jaguars got the miracle they needed.

Ameer Abdullah returned the kick 53 yards to the Eagles' 39-yard line. With one second left on the clock, Hamilton redeemed himself with a good (enough) snap, and Cam Little drilled a 57-yard field goal as time expired to give the Jaguars possibly the hardest-fought victory of the Liam Coen era.

A victory that wouldn’t have been possible without Parker Washington’s big day.

Final Thoughts

I don’t know how much extra money Washington earned for himself Sunday on his upcoming contract extension, but it should be a lot.

Without Washington, Jacksonville loses this game and falls to 3-2 on the season.

Instead, the star receiver carried his team to a 4-1 record and ensured the Jaguars remain alone in first place of the AFC South with yet another win over a quality opponent.
