The Jaguars are done with their OTAs this week and they'll be back for training camp in July. Head coach Liam Coen talked about their approach to the off-season and how their getting better as a team.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are concluding their OTAs with a mandatory mini-camp toward the end of this week, and they'll break for the summer and be back for training camp in July.
Jaguars head coach Liam Coen spoke to reporters about the team's mentality after such a great 2025 campaign.
"This team understands there was meat left on the bone," said Coen. "They've attacked this off-season, which is representative of that hunger and wanting to try to put ourselves in the best position to go earn those ops next year."
Jacksonville has been at it with off-season workouts since April 20th, bringing in new additions and familiar faces. OTAs are a good way for a team to get acclimated to the system and learn more about the culture and plans for the year.
"We've really attacked the off-season," Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said.
Lawrence did very well in 2025, throwing for 4,007 yards and 29 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. His best game was against the New York Jets in Week 15, where he threw for 330 yards and five touchdowns, while also carrying the ball for 51 yards and a touchdown, having six total scores. Jacksonville won the game 48-20.
"It has become a standard," Coen said. "It has become something that we don't have to ask them to do anymore. We don't have to necessarily encourage it. They're doing it, and they're taking the time out of there, rest and recovery, to go get some extra reps. That's important."
Off-season Additions In Jacksonville
The Jaguars added to their roster quite a bit over the last few months, signing players like running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. to a two-year, $10 million deal. Rodriguez is last on the Washington Commanders, where he spent the last three seasons. In 2025, as a Commander, Rodriguez had 500 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
They also acquired former Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro via free agency. That will help add depth to their defensive line.
Jaguars 2025 season overview
Jacksonville had a great turnaround in 2025, as they spent the previous season 4-13, but then they recouped and went 13-4 last year, winning the AFC South and getting a Wild Card playoff spot. They lost to the Buffalo Bills, but they had a great campaign last year.
