Fresh off a dominant thirteen-win season, Jacksonville’s star signal-caller eyes the league's top individual honor as he navigates a high-powered offense loaded with elite playmaking talent.
Jacksonville Jaguars Trevor Lawrence may add more accolades to his NFL career this season.
Trevor Lawrence Named Dark horse MVP Candidate
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was named by the NFL as a dark horse MVP Candidate for the 2026 season. Lawrence's odds to win MVP are at +2200 currently per multiple sports books. Some of the other names on the list included San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who was the number one Dark Horse candidate for MVP and others mentioned were Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold and others. The current favorites to win the award are Bills QB Josh Allen and Ravens QB Lamar Jackson.
Trevor Lawrence 2025 Season overview
Lawrence, along with the Jaguars overall had a great season in 2025. The team went 13-4 after going 4-13 the previous year. Last year, Lawrence threw for 4,007 passing yards and 29 touchdowns to 12 interceptions, with a completion percentage of 60 and a passer rating of 91.0%. He also had 359 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. He ranked 6th in yards and 5th in touchdowns.
Lawrence got a lot of recognition for his great season, and was named to multiple awards. He was a finalist for the Comeback Player of the Year award, while winning AFC Offensive Player of The Month for December and then January (2026). He was also the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his Week 15 performance against the New York Jets, where he threw for 330 yards and five touchdowns, while rushing for 51 yards and a touchdown, equating to six total scores.
Lawrence was named FedEx Air and Ground Player of The Week three times. But one of the more important accolades was that he was named a finalist for the MVP Award. He got 49 votes and placed fifth in the MVP race behind 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.
Lawrence could possibly be an MVP finalist again or even win the award in 2026, being that they'd be in year two of head coach Liam Coen's offense. They also have a good wide receivers core with Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, JaKobi Meyers, and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
Jacksonville has the offensive talent and it's a matter of if they can replicate the success they had in 2025, this season. With Lawrence leading the way, they have a great chance to do so.
