Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence talks about how he came to support a cause that is near and dear to his heart through the My Cause, My Cleats organization through the NFL. The program allows the players to wear custom cleats on the field honoring a cause or an organization.

The holiday season is upon us, and like most athletes, Trevor Lawrence supports certain causes that are near and dear to his heart.

One such cause is “My Cause, My Cleats."

"My Cause My Cleats" is an NFL initiative that allows players to wear custom-designed cleats representing a charity or cause they are passionate about, helping to raise awareness and funds for those organizations.

The causes can be deeply personal, stemming from a player's own experiences or community ties, and often focus on areas like youth empowerment, health, or social justice.

Lawrence's cause is “Here Tomorrow,” a non-profit located in the Jacksonville-area that offers support to those who may be struggling with mental health, and it also provides suicide prevention.

He explains why he decided to support this cause.

“My brother has known the founder, Joe Kenney, for a long time and started doing some artwork with them," Lawrence said. "Then through that, I went and visited their building they are in. I believe it's in Neptune Beach. And I think it's incredible what they're doing.

"Obviously, it's a suicide prevention organization. It's just incredible what they're doing. I think their process of how they're trying to help people with mental health issues is pretty cool. Definitely inspiring. I think all of us have been affected by someone in their life, whether it's family, friends, whoever. Suicide is a big issue in our world and our country and I think it's a great time to shine some light on all the good they're doing,” Lawrence said.

Lawrence also talks about how this year he got his brother and sister-in-law to design his cleats this year.

“I love them. They're great. It'd be bad if I didn't say that my brother and sister-in-law helped design them, but I really do love them. Obviously, our colors, I love the gold and everything. And then, they’ve got the logo here for Here Tomorrow and they did a great job. So, excited for it,” he said.

Lawrence then added, “Yeah, first time he's done it (the cleats). I've had some kids from elementary school, Long Branch a few years ago. I'm trying to think of all the years now, the different art that has been done. Soles by Sir does them a lot of times. He's actually the one that painted them. My brother and sister-in-law just did the design because you’ve got to use certain paint and all that, so they'll stay on when you play. I'm excited though.”

Lawrence will be wearing the cleats this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
