Trevor Lawrence has been on a tear recently, reviving talk of the Jaguars QB's legit candidacy for NFL Most Valuable Player.

Trevor Lawrence has been on a tear. The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback passed for 279 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown in the Jaguars’ 34-20 victory at Denver.

In Week 14 against the New York Jets, Lawrence passed for 330 yards and five TD passes, and rushed for another, becoming the third player in NFL history with at least 275 passing yards with three TDs and a rushing TD in consecutive games since Joe Burrow in 2022 and Kyler Murray in 2020.

After struggling at times earlier in the season, the Jags' fifth-year starter is hitting his stride. So far, he’s thrown for over 3,400 yards and 26 TDs, while leading Jacksonville to an 11-4 mark, with two games left in the regular season. It's the first 11-win season for the Jags since 2007.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford is the odds-on favorite for the MVP, Lawrence is making a convincing late-season push.

Clearly living up to the hype that prompted the Jags to pick him at No. 1 in the 2021 NFL draft, Lawrence says he now feels comfortable in the offense.

“I feel great with our offense right now, what we’re able to do -- the passing game, guys are making plays, giving them opportunities down the field, and we’re protecting well,” Lawrence told reporter Monday. "We’re doing a lot of things well. We just got to not take it for granted.”

Lawrence was at a low point a few weeks ago in a victory over the Arizona Cardinals, when he threw three picks. Still, he led the team's fourth-quarter comeback that got them the win in overtime.

Head coach Liam Coen also has noticed the difference in his quarterback over the past few weeks.

“He’s doing it all,” Coen said. “He’s doing everything that you want your guy to be doing, and he’s doing it at a high level right now.

"Individual success is extremely important to us. You want every player to get what they truly deserve and earn," he said. "But it has to come back to the team first."

It may be too late for Lawrence to snag MVP honors, but that realization won't take away from what he's accomplished this season.

Jacksonville's own prince has led the underdog Jaguars to one of the league's best records and their most exciting season in recent memory, and that has won the ultimate respect of Duval Nation.
