Pair of Jaguars Pass Catchers Eager to Hit the Field

The Jacksonville Jaguars' wide receiving corps is extremely deep, with talent littered throughout the room.

Brian Thomas Jr. and Parker Washington are vying for Jacksonville's No. 1 WR role, while players like Travis Hunter and Jakobi Meyers add additional firepower to the offense.

Following the team's two joint practices with the New Orleans Saints, Meyers talked about his excitement to be back on the field.

"We put a lot of good stuff on tape and a lot of stuff to learn from so it was real good work," on the sideline of Jacksonville's win. "The work is efficient."

Meyers talked about being able to experience his first offseason with the team after being acquired by the Jaguars during last season.

The fleecing of Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders, was one of the best deals of the season.

Considering what Meyers brings to the room and his increased production over the past few years, parting with a fourth and sixth rounder seems like a big win for the Jaguars.

Jacksonville was clearly pleased with Meyers, rewarding the former NC State standout with a three-year, $60 million contract extension in December.

Having Meyers as a third our fourth option on the outside speaks to the depth of Jacksonville's weapons.

Fourth-year tight end Brenton Strange is another player who spoke about his excitement for the upcoming year, saying he "just wants to get out on the field and play with the guys."

Strange was another player rewarded this offseason, inking a three-year extension with the franchise.

After the departure of Evan Engram, Strange took over as a full-time starter for the first time last season, posting career highs in receptions (46), receiving yards (540) and touchdowns (three).

He did so despite playing just 12 games, a career-low.

After being placed on injured reserve with a hip injury following Week 5, Strange finished out the back half of the season, helping Jacksonville to an 8-0 finish.

Strange had an extremely strong showing in the Jaguars' regular-season finale against the Tennessee Titans, catching all six of his targets for 52 yards and a score.

"Obviously, I had the injury, which kind of slowed me down a little bit, but I'm just excited to just keep putting my best foot forward every single day and working hard and becoming the best version of myself," Strange said in April.

Strange is also a strong blocker for his position, having posted his highest grade of his professional career, according to Pro Football Focus.

"Strange had the best year of his young career in his third season with the Jaguars. His 73.4 PFF run-blocking grade placed fifth among all tight ends in the league, while his 77.6 PFF receiving grade was 11th. Strange also averaged 1.70 yards per route run, the 10th-best rate for tight ends."

Having Strange and the plethora of receivers on offense should make Jacksonville one of the most dangerous passing attacks in the league.
