Jacksonville's franchise quarterback believes refined chemistry and explosive downfield timing will transform his top target into the elite vertical threat needed for a deep postseason run.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback-wide receiver duo Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. are making all the headlines this offseason, mainly because they’re the foundation of all the expectations for the Jaguars next season.

While Trevor Lawrence had a career year throwing for 4,007 yards and 29 touchdowns, he couldn't have pulled off that massive turnaround without the raw depth and explosive playmaking of his receiving corps. They were the engine behind it all.

That is one of the main reasons why they need Brian Thomas Jr. to bounce back this season. From the looks of it, however, it seems that Thomas Jr. has already made his break without playing a regular-season snap just from all the practice session updates coming from Jacksonville.

Lawrence himself went out and heaped praise on the star WR, saying how talented he is.

"So, there is the priority in my mind of, I mean, we all know the type of player BT is, and what he's capable of, and so talented, and I felt like last year, at times, we just were on the same page, for whatever reason, a lot of different things come up," Lawrence told host John Oehser.

Thomas Jr. may not have had the season expected from him last season, but all the updates and praises coming out of the offseason suggest he’s working on them.

Since Lawrence is aiming for nothing less than unlocking his absolute ceiling this season, he needs a WR1 to get there, and Thomas Jr. is undeniably shaping up to be that wideout.

"So, a main priority for me was we got it, we just got to get on the same page on all of our routes, our timing, and I feel like we've taken a huge step in that area, and then shots down the field, always giving him a chance, put it out there, we can run under it."

If Lawrence takes that next step from dark-horse finalist to a true MVP frontrunner, it will be because Thomas Jr. bounces back to blow the roof off defenses, giving the Jaguars the elite vertical threat they need to turn a 13-win division title into a legitimate, deep playoff run.
