New York Jets fans want DC Steve Wilks fired. Will HC Aaron Glenn do it?

The New York Jets have one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

Steve Wilks, the Jets' DC, has been under fire from New York fans all season. The Jets are giving up 26.8 points per game. That's 27th in the NFL.

It doesn't appear that Jets HC Aaron Glenn, though, is thinking about moving on from Wilks.

"I've been in that position before and to me — I was fortunate enough to have a coach that believed in me the same way I believe in Wilks," Glenn said. "I evaluate coaches at the end of the season as we continue to talk and see how we're going to improve — that's on offense, defense and special teams.

"I do know this: It is a team effort between coach and player. I don't look at one person and say this is all on him. No, this is a collective unit. Even with myself and making sure how I communicate the way I want things to look. I told you guys this yesterday, I'm looking at everything. I'm looking at myself, I'm looking at the coaches, I'm looking at the players."

The Jets are 3-10. Glenn helped the Detroit Lions franchise become a winner again by revamping their defense. It's too early to tell if he can do it with the Jets.

New York is expected to draft a QB in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, but if the Jets' defense doesn't improve, it doesn't matter who is under center next season.

Per The Athletic, the Jets rank 28th in defensive EPA, 32nd in fourth-down defense, 30th in rush defense, 26th in sack rate, 28th in pressure rate, 25th in red zone defense and 31st in percentage of completions that go for first downs or touchdowns.

New York is the only team in the NFL without an interception on defense. It's not all Wilks' fault, but he will continue to get the blame since he's coaching the defense and calling plays.
