The Jets head coach is ready to move on.
Week 2 was an interesting one for the New York Jets, who lost to the Green Bay Packers in a game they frankly should have won.
During this contest, not many felt the Jets were going to come away with a win, but having a Super Bowl contender, or at the very least a playoff-caliber team like Green Bay, on the ropes and not beating them is a disappointing outcome.
While the Jets are 1-1 and have a lot to look forward to, some difficult games are coming up.
The Jets will take on the Detroit Lions in Detroit next week, the Chicago Bears in Chicago the week after, and then face the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots in two of the next three games.
Speaking to reporters after the game, head coach Aaron Glenn understood that this was a tough loss and something that he’s not going to forget, but he also wanted to make the point that it can’t define the season.
He was happy with how his team competed, and while the loss wasn't ideal, he doesn’t want it to define who New York is.
"I thought we competed our butts off the whole game. The thing is, that's a really good team," Glenn said postgame, per the team. "Competitive stamina is not only fatigue and you keep going, but also how long you can compete, and I don't think our guys stopped competing. Not one bit."
"It's tough, but I will say this: this loss is not going to define who we are and what we're about," Glenn said. "It's not OK, and our guys are going to take it like that. It is not OK, but we have to get ready to move on to next week against another good opponent."
I think Glenn has said a lot of the right things over the past couple of months, and this is another one of those situations.
Again, that’s not to say that he’s happy with the loss by any means, but games like this happen. Honestly, it’s almost good that the Jets didn’t get blown out and showed us that they can compete with some really good teams.
Green Bay is banged up and has injuries to some of its top players, but it’s still a very good team with a chance to win a lot of games this year.
