The Jets have done a lot of work so far this offseason, but could they be set to burst onto the scene next season? AD Mitchell certainly thinks so.

There is typically only one good thing about hitting rock bottom, and that's the fact that you can only go up from there. The New York Jets this season will officially begin their rebuild in an attempt to do just that.

Technically, they weren't rock bottom as the Raiders had a worse record by one game, but when your leading receiver only amasses 395 receiving yards, and your defense doesn't record a single interception all season, it's about as bad as it gets.

So far through free agency, they've done a solid job of renovating the defense, and have 9 draft picks to look forward to, including the 2nd and 16th picks overall.

It gets even better for New York when you realize they still have some offensive weapons coming back next season as well. One of those young weapons believes the offensive core could make some noise next season.

Adonai Mitchell Says "We Could Really Do Something"

During a podcast appearance on Downs 2 Business, hosted by brothers Josh and Caleb Downs, Adonai Mitchell made an appearance and had some thoughts on his fellow young offensive teammates.

During the podcast, when asked about the Jets' young core, Mitchell said, "It's all about just stacking everything up, being consistent, bro, and like...we could really do something. Something that ain't been brought to New York in a minute."

Mitchell was originally drafted by the Indianapolis Colts and actually played with Josh Downs, but after a tumultuous season in Indy last season, he was included in the Sauce Gardner trade.

Once he got to New York, things seemed to shift for him. In the same 8 games that Garrett Wilson played, Mitchell accumulated just 90 yards less than Wilson and caught two touchdowns, which was tied for 2nd on the team with John Metchie III and Andrew Beck.

Not only will Mitchell be back next season and even more comfortable, but he'll be joining a pretty solid young core.

The Jets will have weapons like Garrett Wilson, AD Mitchell, Mason Taylor, and a backfield tandem of Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. That group will also be joined by whoever the Jets end up drafting.

Geno Smith is by no means an elite-level quarterback, but if this core can stay healthy and Geno can look better than Justin Fields, this offense could be, dare I say, fun?
