Shortly after the New York Jets placed the franchise tag on him, Breece Hall took to social media to react to the news.
Hall's tag is the nonexclusive version ($14.293 million), meaning he can negotiate with other teams and sign an offer sheet. The Jets have the right of first refusal and would receive two first-round draft picks as compensation if they decline to match, a prohibitive price for a running back.
According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, the Jets "would like to sign Hall to a multi-year deal and league sources believe that number would come in somewhere between the transition and franchise values on a per-year basis."
Hall finished the 2025 season with 1,065 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, 36 receptions, 350 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
Hall, who turns 25 in May, has 18 rushing touchdowns and nine receiving touchdowns with the Jets, who hired Frank Reich to be their offensive coordinator.
Reich replaces Tanner Engstrand.
The Jets' offense was a walking disaster in 2025. They were 29th in the NFL in points per game and 32nd in passing yards.
Under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, the Jets became the first team in NFL history to not record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points within a single season.
Erich Richter of the New York Post asked Hall if he wants to return to the Jets this offseason and the talented RB gave a rather ominous answer.
"You know, I don't know," Hall said. "I've addressed this for the last six, seven months now. But now I'm just kind of like whatever happens, happens.
"I'm just where my feet are, and letting God and my agent handle everything else. I feel like my play speaks for itself, considering the situations I've been in the last few years. I'm going to get everything that's coming to me, so I'm not too worried about it."
Hall and the Jets have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term contract. Let's see if one gets done.
New York has the second pick in this year's draft. The franchise is expected to take a QB.
