With the season starting for the New York Jets, there's plenty to like about regarding what the team might look like.

However, as the Jets now get ready to play their first game of the year against the Tennessee Titans, all of that is out the window.

This is time for the Jets to come out and simply play good football, and if they don't, there are going to be many questions about what the future of this team looks like. There's plenty of pressure on multiple guys, including rookie David Bailey.

Bailey, who was the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, is expected to be one of the better players on this defense. If he ends up being the guy the Jets needs him to be, there's a very good chance New York is going to be a lot better than some expect.

Regarding what he's looking forward to early on, Bailey doesn't seem too focused on thinking about anything past this first game against the Titans.

In fact, he went as far as to say that he's not even thinking about divisional games and is more so focused on just getting a win week in and week out.

“I’m not really thinking about [divisional teams] right now, honestly. I’m thinking about it week by week,” Bailey said to Brian Costello. “I mean, we’re going [against] a good-ass quarterback right now. Obviously going against Cam Ward, he’s extremely elusive. He’s a good quarterback.

“So we’ve put together a plan to try and contain him…It’s going to be a group effort, but you know going against a specific quarterback, obviously you got to be cognizant of certain abilities they have and certain strengths they have. But my mindset, really, I don’t think it drastically changes from week to week. I think it’s pretty consistent in terms of what I want to get done and what I want to help the team with.”

This is the right mindset from a rookie, especially one who has yet to play a game in the NFL. For the Jets, this is also a way they need to look at things.

The last thing the Jets can do is overlook teams they might not be better than, which could be the case with the Titans. I believe the Jets are better than the Titans, but they're certainly not good enough to overlook them.
