One of the worst draft picks in New York Jets history has found a new home.

A former New York Jets draft bust has found a new NFL team.

According to ESPN, QB Zach Wilson is signing with the New Orleans Saints. It's a one-year deal.

Wilson will back up Tyler Shough, the Saints' second-round pick in 2025, who had a strong rookie season in New Orleans after replacing Spencer Rattler, the 2024 fourth-round pick.

The Jets selected Wilson with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Wilson appeared in 34 games with New York. He put up 6,293 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns and 25 interceptions.

Wilson is one of the best draft busts in NFL history. In 38 games with the Jets and Miami Dolphins, the BYU product has 6,325 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns and 25 interceptions.

Wilson spent the 2024 season with the Denver Broncos. He didn't appear in a game.

Time is a flat circle. Or else it appears to be because Geno Smith is back with the Jets after starting his NFL career there in 2013. New York acquired Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason.

In his first stint with the Jets, Smith went 12-18 as a starter. He threw for 5,962 yards, 28 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. It wasn't pretty.

However, Smith is older and wiser now and believes he's going to prove his critics in New York wrong.

"I just felt like I was back where I belonged, man. It felt special," Smith said. "When I was drafted there, my goal was to play my entire career for the Jets and one day retire as a Jet. And although it didn't go exactly as planned, somehow, some way we got back here and I'm eager to make things right if I can."

Smith enters next season with 22,168 passing yards, 124 passing touchdowns and 89 career interceptions in the NFL. His starting record is 42-56-0.

Smith's best seasons in the NFL came with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022 and 2023. He made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and 2023 and won the 2022 AP Comeback Player of the Year Award.
