Mike Tannenbaum helped the New York Jets hire Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey.

Former New York Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum helped the franchise hire Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn last offseason through The 33rd Team.

So if you were expecting Tannenbaum to bash Mougey or Glenn, you thought wrong.

"I would give [Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey] the same grade. I'd give them a grade of incomplete," Tannenbaum told The Post. "What I give the Jets a ton of credit for is that they’re trying to reset this franchise for the long term."

The Jets went 3-14 this season. They traded Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys for multiple future draft picks.

New York has the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. They are widely expected to select a QB.

"They made some really big decisions where they could have won four games, five games, or six games if they kept Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner," Tannenbaum said. "We'll never know. I think they put themselves in a position with cap space and draft choices that is really good. The result wasn't where they wanted to be this year. In six short weeks, as we come up on free agency, this roster is going to look very different."

Many Jets fans believe Glenn should be fired since his team made putrid NFL history twice this season. New York is the first team in NFL history to not record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points within a single season.

Tannenbaum, though, still believes in Glenn.

"I knew Aaron Glenn for a long time, and you talk to people he either played for or coached for. He had recommendations from Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, Sean Payton and Dan Campbell," Tannenbaum said. "Look, this year didn't go great, obviously. What I can tell you about Aaron Glenn is that no one will be harder on himself than him. He takes this very seriously."

The Jets signed Glenn to a five-year contract. They are not expected to fire him, even though John Harbaugh is available.

If New York struggles again next season, Glenn could be fired. For now, though, his job is safe.
