Geno Smith is back with the New York Jets.

The New York Jets have acquired Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders and the veteran Pro Bowl quarterback is excited to be back in the Big Apple.

Smith began his NFL career with the Jets. He was the 39th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

"Complete full circle moment back to where it all began," Smith said about getting traded to the Jets. "I'm excited to connect with my new teammates and coaches and everyone in the building as well as build a new relationship with the fan base and community."

In his first stint with the Jets, Smith went 12-18 as a starter. He threw for 5,962 yards, 28 touchdowns and 36 interceptions.

Smith rejuvenated his career with the Seattle Seahawks after stops with the New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers. The West Virginia product made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and 2023 and won the 2022 AP Comeback Player of the Year Award.

However, Smith's lone season with the Raiders in 2025 was a disaster. He led the league in interceptions with 17 and went just 2-13.

The Jets started three QBs in 2025: Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook. The three QBs combined for 2,777 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes.

New York is expected to release Fields soon.

The Jets' offense was a walking disaster in 2025. They were 29th in the NFL in points per game and 32nd in passing yards.

New York's new OC is Frank Reich. It will be intriguing to see how Smith and Reich work together next season.

Smith enters next season with 22,168 passing yards, 124 passing touchdowns and 89 career interceptions. His starting record is 42-56-0.

The Jets have the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Will they still draft a QB after trading for Smith?

Only time will tell.
