Things still seem somewhat up in the air for the New York Jets heading into Thursday night, and some have questioned what the organization might do with its first-round picks. Currently holding the second overall pick and pick 16, the Jets can go in a few different directions.

A lot of the focus right now is on what New York plans to do with its second pick, because that's perhaps more important than anything else at the moment.

It seems all but guaranteed that New York will either go with Arvell Reese or David Bailey at No. 2. That doesn't mean the Jets can't shock us and go with somebody else, but everything indicates one of those players getting selected.

There seems to be a late gust of wind suggesting that Bailey will be the pick, but according to the latest from one of the top insiders in New York, it sounds like Reese is still the guy.

“There has been an overwhelming amount of noise nationally that the Jets are going to pick Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey. As such, the Reese versus Bailey debate has intensified — certainly on a local level. Despite all the smoke, I’m staying with Reese, who has been my projection throughout this process… I understand the logic with Bailey.

“Glenn is now calling plays; he’s putting it on his own shoulders to turn one of the NFL’s worst defenses around in a significant way. Bailey is going to walk into the NFL capable of getting 10 sacks right away, while Reese might require more development as a pass rusher. So it’s become a debate of floor versus ceiling — Bailey has the higher floor, but Reese has the higher ceiling,” Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic wrote.

If we're going based on the player alone, I tend to agree that Reese would be the better option in this scenario. He's proved during his time at Ohio State that he can be one of the best players in the world, and while there's no guarantee that a player is going to come in and be a star by any means in the NFL, I'd take my chances on Reese eventually being that.
