Jermaine Johnson was traded by the New York Jets to the Tennessee Titans.

The New York Jets and Tennessee Titans completed the first trade of the 2026 offseason.

New York is sending Jermaine Johnson to Tennessee for T'Vondre Sweat.

The trade can't be processed until the start of the league year on March 11, but Johnson issued a statement on X about being traded by the Jets.

"New York, thank you for everything truly," Johnson wrote on X. "The love I've been shown here for the past 4-5 years has been nothing short of amazing, both on and off the field. Y'all will always hold a special place in my heart. Wish all of my former coaches and former teammates the best!! Thank all of y'all for sharing a battlefield with me. 11 out."

Johnson will be reunited with Titans coach Robert Saleh, who coached the Jets when they selected Johnson with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 draft.

Johnson also will once again play under new Titans defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton, who was his position coach with the Jets his first three seasons.

The Jets and Titans combined to win six games in 2025. Johnson played in 14 games for New York last season. He had three sacks, 22 solo tackles, five tackles for loss and six QB hits.

Johnson made the Pro Bowl 2023. Who was his coach that season? It was none other than Saleh.

In 47 games with the Jets, Johnson had 13 sacks, 80 solo tackles, 20 tackles for loss and 27 QB hits.

Under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, the Jets became the first team in NFL history to not record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points within a single season.

New York's new DC is former Miami Dolphins assistant Brian Duker. However, Glenn will call defensive plays next season.

The Jets have the second pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. They are widely expected to select a QB.
