Nothing good came out of Week 4 against Chicago.
Before the New York Jets' loss to the Chicago Bears last Sunday, I didn't really feel like New York was playing bad football.
In fact, one could make a strong argument that the Jets looked like an above-average team that even had a chance to make some noise if a couple of things went their way. Unfortunately for the Jets, that was far from the case on Sunday, as they were just as bad as anybody could have imagined.
This looked like the old Jets, and for that reason alone, many are starting to get frustrated, as in previous years.
I still don't think it's crazy to say this Jets team is a lot better than it has been over the past couple of seasons, but ultimately, fans don't really care.
The fan base wants to win, and if they don't start winning, all that pressure will fall on head coach Aaron Glenn. There's already plenty of pressure on Glenn and the front office to win games at a high level, something they haven't been able to do, despite playing better throughout those first three games.
My one problem with some of Glenn's recent comments is that he thinks that there were some positives to take away from this Bears game.
I don't want to say he shouldn't try to find positives in any game he plays, since we can always find one small thing and say it didn't go poorly, but it really doesn't feel like the Jets did enough in this game.
In fact, I feel like New York was brutal, and it was one of the worst showings that I could have expected out of this team.
“There are some positives that came out of this, and sometimes everybody just focuses on the negative part of it,” Glenn said, per the NY Post, “but our deal is we’re going to make sure we try to continue to improve on that and hopefully from the outside our fans will see that and again, we’ll just look at the next week and we’re just trying to go 1-0 each week and that’s the thing that we’re focused on and that’s the only thing I want our fans to focus on.
“We’re going to flush this game. We’re going to move ahead. We’ve got a team that’s coming in that’s playing pretty good, so our focus is to make sure we beat that team and that’s it.”
Flushing this game is the right idea, as the Jets have to make sure they don't bring this into their next game against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns, coming in at 3-1, have been one of the more intriguing teams in the NFL to start the season.
Not many expected Cleveland to play good football, but it has found a way to do just that.
As the Jets prepare for the rest of the season, winning games like this will be a big priority. If they want any chance of making the playoffs, this almost feels like a must-win.
