Glenn knows the type of mind and coach Ben Johnson is.
The New York Jets will have one of their tougher games of the season on Sunday in Week 4, taking on the Chicago Bears out at Soldier Field in Chicago.
The Jets have a real opportunity to win, given the injuries the Bears are dealing with on both sides of the ball, though they come in 2-1 and have played pretty well.
After an impressive win against the Philadelphia Eagles despite Caleb Williams being out, there are fair questions about whether the Jets will do enough on both sides of the ball to win this game.
There's also some history between the two sides, as Aaron Glenn, who used to work with the Detroit Lions, is the Jets' head coach.
The Jets will also take on Ben Johnson, who was on the same Lions staff with Glenn, serving as the offensive coordinator.
Speaking to reporters before the game, he said he still has a lot of respect for what Johnson has done throughout his young career. Considering how well the Bears have played, it would be impossible to say anything else.
"We were so competitive in move the ball situations on how we wanted to beat each other, but it made both of us better, I will say that," Glenn said Wednesday about going up against Johnson during Lions practices, via the Jets' official site. "He's a damn good coach."
"When you have coordinators, offensive and defensive coordinators, you're really planning practice," Glenn said. "You're really planning the things you want to see against each other so the communication between me and him was always outstanding. ... Just talking offensive and defensive football was good to have."
Johnson is one of the bright young offensive minds in all of the NFL, proving that over the past couple of years.
Now running his own team, the Bears have been one of the more impressive squads in all of the NFL. There's still a lot that Chicago will have to figure out on both sides of the football, but as things currently stand, this is a better team than the Jets.
It'll be interesting to see how things go on Sunday, but if the first couple of weeks have shown anything, it's that the Bears are going to score points and that the Jets are going to compete. Hopefully, that will be the case when we get a competitive one.
