The New York Jets announced positive and negative injury news for the New England Patriots game.
We have good and bad New York Jets news to report.
The good news? Omar Cooper Jr. will play against the New England Patriots this Sunday. He has been out since suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 1.
Kenyon Sadiq is also expected to play against the Patriots, as he's finishing up his concussion protocol.
The bad news? Breece Hall is still out with an ankle injury and Adonai Mitchell is still dealing with a finger injury. Both guys won't play against the Patriots.
New York is 2-3, while New England is 3-2.
The Jets went 0-6 in the division last season in Year 1 of the Aaron Glenn era. Gang Green is 6-18 in AFC East games since drafting Garrett Wilson in 2022.
From 2020 to 2022, New York lost 15 straight games in the division.
Wilson has 31 receptions for 374 yards and three touchdowns this season. The Ohio State product will need to have a strong game in Week 6 for the Jets to upset the Patriots.
The Jets only have one interception in the Glenn era. Patriots QB Drake Maye has thrown seven interceptions this season, so let's see if Glenn's defense can get one this Sunday.
According to ESPN, the Jets are playing more zone than man-to-man this season, which makes the low total even more perplexing. The Dallas Cowboys are the only team with zero interceptions.
Jets quarterback Geno Smith led the NFL in interceptions last season with the Las Vegas Raiders. He threw 17 interceptions. It's been impressive to see the QB take care of the ball through the air this season, as he hasn't thrown an interception yet.
Smith has 1,084 passing yards and six passing touchdowns thus far in his second stint with New York. The two-time Pro Bowler is completing 69.4% of his passes.
In Week 5, the Jets beat the Cleveland Browns 17-12. David Bailey became the first Jets rookie since Hugh Douglas in 1995 to record three sacks in a game and the first in the NFL to do so since James Houston of the Detroit Lions in 2022.
Bailey had three sacks, eight quarterback pressures and seven tackles against the Browns. New York selected Bailey with the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Bailey didn't make much noise in the first four games of the season, but he showed in Week 5 against the Browns why the Jets took him with the second pick.
For the Jets to beat the Patriots, Bailey has to make life difficult for Maye. Let's see if it happens.
