Braelon Allen of the New York Jets is huge.
According to Ben Solak of ESPN, New York Jets RB Braelon Allen got close to 250 pounds this offseason.
Allen got bigger and stronger after suffering a serious knee injury last season.
"The Jets' backup running back opened minicamp in June by announcing that he was the 'biggest I've ever been, the strongest, the fastest.' He even went into greater specifics. 'The most lean muscle I've had, the lowest body fat. Perfect symmetry in both my legs and arms.' When you're talking about the best shape, how can you not give extra points to perfect symmetry?" Solak wrote.
"Allen reportedly got close to 250 pounds this offseason after playing his injury-shortened 2025 season around 240 pounds. That would make him one of the heaviest running backs in the NFL, knocking on the door of Derrick Henry's 252 pounds."
Allen got hurt in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins. He said he added weight this offseason "by accident" through heavy weightlifting.
The Dolphins game was rough for Allen. Not only did he get hurt and miss the rest of the season, but Allen also fumbled on the goal line before getting injured.
"I would say it definitely left a pretty bitter taste in my mouth, for sure, this whole offseason," Allen said. "Obviously, my last carry was the fumble on the goal line and then the next time I touched the ball, it ended my season. Those are the two plays that I get to look back on as the last two of that year. Just attacked the rehab process with hunger and a whole lot of motivation. I never want to leave the field those two ways again."
Allen finished last season with 76 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. He enters the 2026 campaign with 410 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns with the Jets.
Allen, Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis are New York's RBs in 2026. Hall will be the workhorse again, but Allen should get a fair amount of carries and opportunities to help the Jets' offense.
The Jets went just 3-14 last season. It will be fascinating to see how Gang Green performs in Year 2 of the Aaron Glenn era after acquiring QB Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders.
