The New York Jets made the right decision by extending running back Breece Hall. While I understand the comments many will make after giving Hall a new extension, with some believing that New York didn't need to give him a $43.5 million deal because it is one of the worst teams in the NFL, I don't really love that excuse.

While the Jets are obviously one of the worst teams in the NFL and have been during Hall's time with the organization, they need to start winning football games at the end of the day.

Trading away all of your best players typically doesn't result in more wins, even if some don't love that paying running backs doesn't always end as well as others hope when the time comes.

If there's one thing for certain throughout all of this, the Jets made the right decision by signing a player who can definitely help them win games. Hall, who will need to really step it up in a Jets offense that looks better than it has over the past few years, believes that the team should have paid him when they did.

He believes the Jets are also in a much better position to start winning at a high level, adding that he was impressed by the offseason moves in New York.

"I feel like I'm the only running back that's consistently a top-10 back in the league that hasn't in the past been always in a most ideal situation," he said this week after signing his three-year, $43.5 million contract. "I feel like they've really put me in position with all the guys they brought in and the team we're building around us to really flourish and for me to really be myself.

"Just the fact that they brought a proven veteran in like Geno, and then we drafted some really good guys, [it's] letting me know, 'OK, we're really trying to build something here,'" Hall said, per Rich Cimini of ESPN.

Hall getting the feeling that the Jets are building something is just as important as anything else. While the money aspect was obviously the biggest question here, there is no reason for a guy to come back to an organization if he doesn't believe they have any chance to win.

The Jets might not have a chance to win a Super Bowl just yet, but the other signs are rather impressive early on.
