The New York Jets and wide receiver Garrett Wilson are looking to start their divisional games with a win.

The New York Jets face the New England Patriots this week and wideout Garrett Wilson knows how important the game is.

New York went 0-6 in the division last season in Year 1 of the Aaron Glenn era.

"There's a premium on this one because it is our first one [in the division]," Wilson said. "I don't know how to exactly put it, but it's a big-ass game."

The Jets are 6-18 in AFC East games since drafting Wilson in 2022. From 2020 to 2022, New York lost 15 straight games in the division.

Wilson and the Jets are 2-3. They beat the Cleveland Browns last week. Meanwhile, the Patriots are 3-2. They have won back-to-back games after starting the season 1-2.

"To put yourself in the hunt, it's how did you stack up with the teams you play twice a year?" Wilson said. "And this is our first one."

Wilson has 31 receptions for 374 yards and three touchdowns this season. The Ohio State product will need to have a strong game in Week 6 for the Jets to upset the Patriots.

The Jets only have one interception in the Glenn era. Patriots QB Drake Maye has thrown seven interceptions this season, so let's see if Glenn's defense can get one this Sunday.

According to ESPN, the Jets are playing more zone than man-to-man this season, which makes the low total even more perplexing. The Dallas Cowboys are the only team with zero interceptions.

Jets quarterback Geno Smith led the NFL in interceptions last season with the Las Vegas Raiders. He threw 17 interceptions. It's been impressive to see the QB take care of the ball through the air this season, as he hasn't thrown an interception yet.

Smith has 1,084 passing yards and six passing touchdowns thus far in his second stint with New York. The two-time Pro Bowler is completing 69.4% of his passes.

In Week 5, the Jets beat the Browns 17-12. David Bailey became the first Jets rookie since Hugh Douglas in 1995 to record three sacks in a game and the first in the NFL to do so since James Houston of the Detroit Lions in 2022.

Bailey had three sacks, eight quarterback pressures and seven tackles against the Browns. New York selected Bailey with the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Bailey didn't make much noise in the first four games of the season, but he showed in Week 5 against the Browns why the Jets took him with the second pick.

For the Jets to beat the Patriots, Bailey has to make life difficult for Maye. Let's see if it happens.
