Garrett Wilson was not happy after the New York Jets lost to the New England Patriots.
New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson was grumbling aloud as he walked through the tunnel and to the locker room after Gang Green lost to the New England Patriots, per ESPN.
Wilson was frustrated by his four-catch, 44-yard performance on six targets.
"It's just frustrating because we lost and I want to help the team," Wilson told reporters after the game.
The Jets lost to the Patriots by a final score of 26-19. Of the 31 plays New York ran in New England's territory, the ball ended up in Wilson's hands once -- a 12-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
Wilson was targeted only three times in plus-territory and only twice overall through the first three quarters.
"Not every game [is] going to go your way," Wilson said. "I try to reason it in my head because we had [the] fourth quarter, and I know that the game can change at any moment. So just try to keep playing my role, waiting for that moment that they want to call on me."
The Jets dropped to 2-4 after losing to the Patriots. Head coach Aaron Glenn is 5-18 as New York's coach. He is 0-7 in the division.
Through six games, the Jets are averaging 18.7 points per game. That's 27th in the NFL. Wilson has 35 catches for 418 yards and three touchdowns.
Wilson, in control of his emotions after the game, was measured in his postgame comments, sometimes pausing before choosing his words.
"I'm going to watch this film and see how I can get more separation or just find a way to get on the right page with [Geno] and find a way to make defenses pay for the looks that we've been getting," Wilson said. "Because [the opportunities] are there."
Jets QB Geno Smith threw his first interception of the season against the Patriots. He finished the game with 252 passing yards, one passing touchdown and one interception while completing 66.7% of his passes.
New York will miss the playoffs again this season. With that said, it's time for Glenn to bench Smith for rookie Cade Klubnik.
Klubnik went 21-of-34 through the air for 190 passing yards in the preseason. He had no touchdown passes and threw one interception.
Entering the 2025 college football season, Klubnik was projected as a top pick in the 2026 draft, but after he and Clemson struggled, his draft stock took a hit.
The Jets selected Klubnik with the 110th overall pick in the 2026 draft. Although his draft fall was significant, Klubnik remains confident in his game.
Klubnik finished the 2025 college football season with 2,943 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns. He threw for 10,123 passing yards and 73 touchdowns in his Clemson career.
Along with benching Smith for Klubnik, the Jets' front office should consider firing Glenn. He has repeatedly proven he's not good at clock management.
The Jets face the 0-5 Miami Dolphins next week. If Gang Green loses to Miami, Glenn should get fired.
