People can say whatever they want about how the New York Jets have played over the last couple of seasons, and if they want to suggest that this team hasn't been good, they wouldn't be wrong.
However, if there's absolutely one thing that nobody can say about the Jets, it's that their fan base doesn't show up.
Whether the Jets are the worst team in the NFL or a squad that has high hopes, the fan base is always there.
That's still true in 2026, despite all the down years the organization has had. It's almost crazy that the Jets fan base has this much loyalty when we really think about it, but they're New York sports fans at the end of the day.
One thing I love is that this team has started to buy into the idea that it really appreciates the fan base. Instead of guys coming out and saying that they feel the pressure, the fan base has said things to them in the past, or anything else, they just continue to say a lot of the right things. That includes head coach Aaron Glenn and superstar wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
“I love our fans,” receiver Garrett Wilson said Wednesday after practice, per SNY. “They show up every season, every year. Even in the offseason, they’re already thinking about football season. It’s a different fan base. They’re wired a little different. Their loyalty is never in question, even though there hasn’t been much to root for, and we’re all aware of that.
“We owe it to them… “Protecting our home turf is how we’re all feeling,” Wilson said. “I expect the fans to bring a lot of energy. They always do, especially on opening day at home. And with a really good team and organization like the Packers coming in, that makes it that much better.”
As the Jets enter Week 2, their first home game of the year against the Green Bay Packers, there's a lot of hope that they can come away with this win.
Beating Green Bay on their home field would be a major step in the right direction and something every fan would be excited about. Even if the Jets lose this game, keeping it close will be a step in the right direction.
I have a lot of hope that the Jets can do just that, and the fan base at MetLife will be a big reason why.
