The New York Jets were probably the worst team in the NFL last season, based on what we saw.
While they didn't finish with the worst record technically, as they had the second overall pick, New York was horrendous, and I don't think anybody would disagree with that.
There were definitely reasons the Jets struggled at the level they did a year ago, and some of it was due to injuries on both sides of the football. The biggest one, at least offensively, was Garrett Wilson. Wilson, undoubtedly one of the top 10 wide receivers in the NFL, still managed to finish with the most yards in the organization a year ago, receiving-wise.
That goes to show how bad the Jets were, considering Wilson barely played last season, appearing in just seven games. Nonetheless, despite the offense being one of the worst in the NFL, he still finished with 395 yards on 36 receptions, showing that what he does is just as good as anybody in the league.
Speaking to reporters about what he went through last season and what he learned throughout the process, it doesn't sound like Wilson took the injury as hard as he probably should have.
Dealing with an injury of that magnitude definitely has to be frustrating, but instead of being a young, unknown mind like some young NFL players, he's taking this with a different outlook, stating that it allowed him to understand what life really is, look at football a different way, and that he got a lot out of it.
“It really allowed me to change my point of view and just kind of look at some things from a different angle,” Wilson said, per Yahoo. “So I don’t want to sit here and act like I didn’t get anything out of [the injury], but not playing football, which is ultimately what I was brought here to do, it hurt. It’s never been brought upon me like that, so it was a little different.”

Wilson has said a lot of the right things for the Jets over the past few years ever since being drafted, and this just goes to show his veteran mindset for such a youngster.
As long as he's on the Jets roster long term and they continue to put decent pieces around him, there's reason to believe that he's going to be one of the best wide receivers in Jets history, if not the best.
