New York Jets QB Geno Smith has seven passing touchdowns this season.

NFL.com ranked New York Jets veteran Geno Smith 18th in its latest starting QB rankings.

Smith is one spot ahead of Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys and one spot behind Tyler Shough of the New Orleans Saints.

Through six games, the Jets are averaging 18.7 points per game. That's 27th in the NFL. Smith has 1,336 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns and one interception. He's completing 68.9% of his passes.

Smith's best NFL seasons came with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022 and 2023. He made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and 2023 and won the 2022 AP Comeback Player of the Year award.

Smith entered this season with 22,168 passing yards, 124 passing touchdowns and 89 career interceptions in the NFL.

Heading into the Jets' Week 7 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, Smith has a 44-60-0 record as a starter. The West Virginia product has 23,504 passing yards, 131 passing touchdowns and 90 interceptions in his career.

New York will miss the playoffs again this season. With that said, it's time for head coach Aaron Glenn to bench Smith for rookie Cade Klubnik.

Klubnik went 21-of-34 through the air for 190 passing yards in the preseason. He had no touchdown passes and threw one interception.

Entering the 2025 college football season, Klubnik was projected as a top pick in the 2026 draft, but after he and Clemson struggled, his draft stock took a hit.

The Jets selected Klubnik with the 110th overall pick in the 2026 draft. Although his draft fall was significant, Klubnik remains confident in his game.

Klubnik finished the 2025 college football season with 2,943 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns. He threw for 10,123 passing yards and 73 touchdowns in his Clemson career.

Along with benching Smith for Klubnik, the Jets' front office should consider firing Glenn. He has repeatedly proven he's not good at clock management.

The Jets face the 0-5 Dolphins next week. If Gang Green loses to Miami, Glenn should be fired.

New York is 5-18 in the Glenn era. The team has not won a game in the AFC East either.

Glenn is calling defensive plays this season. The Jets, after not getting an interception last season, have one this season. They are giving up 20.3 points per game. That's seventh in the NFL.

All signs point toward the Jets having a top pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. The front office better use that pick on a quarterback.

If the Jets get a talented QB in the draft, they should fire Glenn and hire an offensive-minded coach to put the youngster in the best position to succeed.
