New York Jets TE Jeremy Ruckert loves playing with QB Geno Smith.
The New York Jets are 1-2 and will probably miss the playoffs again this season.
However, QB Geno Smith is off to a strong start in his second stint with the Jets. The veteran has 783 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and zero interceptions. He's completing 75.5% of his passes.
"He's a warrior, man," tight end Jeremy Ruckert said, via ESPN. "He's a field general. We have the utmost confidence in him."
The Jets lost to the Detroit Lions in Week 3, but Smith played really well. He put up 321 passing yards and threw three touchdowns while going 31/37 through the air.
Bleacher Report gave Smith an A- for his performance against the Lions. Thus far, the veteran has been everything the Jets hoped he'd be and more. Smith doesn't look like the quarterback from last year, when he was arguably the worst starter in the league with the Las Vegas Raiders.
After leading the NFL in interceptions last season, Smith hasn't thrown a single one this season. He made multiple pinpoint passes against the Lions, showing off his accuracy and touch.
Smith's best NFL seasons came with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022 and 2023. He made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and 2023 and won the 2022 AP Comeback Player of the Year award.
Smith entered this season with 22,168 passing yards, 124 passing touchdowns and 89 career interceptions in the NFL. Heading into the Jets' Week 4 matchup against the Chicago Bears, Smith has a 43-58-0 record as a starter.
Some Jets fans want to see head coach Aaron Glenn play rookie Cade Klubnik this season. That could happen once New York is officially eliminated from the playoffs.
Klubnik went 21/34 through the air for 190 passing yards in the preseason. He had no touchdown passes and threw one interception.
Entering the 2025 college football season, Klubnik was projected as a top pick in the 2026 draft, but after he and Clemson struggled, his draft stock took a hit.
The Jets selected Klubnik with the 110th overall pick in the 2026 draft. Although his draft fall was significant, Klubnik remains confident in his game.
Klubnik finished the 2025 college football season with 2,943 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns. He threw for 10,123 passing yards and 73 touchdowns in his Clemson career.
The Bears beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. They are 2-1 on the season. The Jets likely won't have to deal with Caleb Williams because he has a Grade 2 hamstring strain.
Case Keenum played great for the Bears against the Eagles. The veteran threw for 247 passing yards and two passing touchdowns and scored one rushing touchdown.
The Jets still have not recorded an interception in the Glenn era. Let's see if that changes in Week 4 in Chicago.
