New York Jets offensive coordinator had some strong words about his quarterback Geno Smith.

The New York Jets were able to grab their second win of the 2026 NFL season, taking down the Cleveland Browns in the process.

New York played a sloppy game all around, but the team was able to do just enough to come away with the win. The Jets know that they will have to clean up a lot moving forward, with head coach Aaron Glenn making that clear after the game ended.

But for now, the Jets will celebrate the victory, taking some lessons from it. One area that New York will have to improve on is offensively, with the team showing some signs of inconsistency again.

Quarterback Geno Smith will have to play better as the year moves forward for this team to have a chance to win. Smith finished the game by throwing for 182 yards with one touchdown and one fumble.

New York has trusted Smith with this offense this season, and while it hasn't been perfect, Smith has delivered well enough. Smith has earned the respect of this team, with offensive coordinator Frank Reich saying that there is no player he would rather have under center.

Reich has seen plenty of quarterbacks in his tenure in the NFL, making this a big statement about Smith. But the veteran still hasn't thrown an interception this season, which was a major cause for concern entering the year.

Last season with the Las Vegas Raiders, Smith was very turnover prone and after the Jets traded for him this offseason, there was a lot fo questions about his play. But Smith has taken care of the ball for the most part, giving the Jets a chance to win games.

New York has been competitive this season, which the team couldn't say a year ago, so Smith has to get some credit. But this team wants to make the playoffs this season, and Smith is going to have to generate more consistent offense to make that happen.

The Jets were without star running back Breece Hall for the game, and since he went down with an injury, New York's offense has looked a little rough. Backup Braelon Allen filled in nicely against Cleveland, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown.

New York now owns a record of 2-3 on the season, with the team getting ready for a big game this coming week against the New England Patriots on the road. If the Jets can find a way to win this contest, it could help them build more momentum for the rest of the way.
