The New York Jets were very busy this offseason, as Darren Mougey made major roster changes while he and Aaron Glenn look to rebound in the 2026 season to keep their jobs.
This is still a team with plenty of uncertainty, and it might not even be a good team by the end of the 2026 season. But there's some hope and intrigue about what this team could be.
ESPN analyst Ben Solak revealed that he believes the Jets are "going to be solid this season" and, in turn, actually be a watchable team as well.
ESPN analyst is intrigued about Jets' 'watchability' in 2026 after offseason overhaul
"Color me intrigued at the watchability of the Jets," Solak writes. "I'm not sure that QB Geno Smith has it anymore. I'm not sure that offensive coordinator Frank Reich has it anymore. I'm not sure that Aaron Glenn, who had to endure hot-seat rumors after just one season as head coach, has enough of a runway to get off the ground in Year 2."
The Jets have plenty of question marks about their team heading into the 2026 season; there's no doubt about that. Solak called out Geno Smith, Aaron Glenn, and Frank Reich as the main question marks surrounding this team entering 2026.
But despite all of that, Solak wrote, "But in my heart of hearts, I kind of think the Jets are going to be solid this season."
The major offseason additions the Jets made should prove to be a huge help. In the 2026 NFL Draft, David Bailey, Kenyon Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Ponds, and Cade Klubnik could turn into high-impact players.
Through the trade market and free agency, they added T'Vondre Sweat, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Demario Davis, Kingsley Enagbare, David Onyemata, Dylan Parham, and Nahshon Wright, among others.
This Jets team is better than it was last year on paper, and even though it might not be an elite team, it's made a huge leap forward to go from a laughingstock to a mediocre team.
As Solak writes, "The first step toward elite watchability is escaping the cellar of unwatchably bad football, and I think the Jets took that step this offseason."
The Jets have been quite the rough team to watch over the years, especially in the final five games of the 2025 season, where they were completely blown out by three-plus scores every week while also failing to get an interception to end their drought.
But now, heading into 2026, the Jets might actually be an entertaining team to watch. The offseason changes, alongside their returning stars, should make the Jets, even if only a little bit, more enjoyable to watch this season than many of the last few years.
