New York Jets owner Woody Johnson took a big shot at QB Justin Fields.

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson took a big shot at QB Justin Fields while speaking to reporters at the NFL's Fall League Meeting in New York on Tuesday.

The Jets are 0-7. They are the only winless team in the NFL.

"You know, it's hard when you have a quarterback with a rating that we've got," Johnson said. "He has ability, but something is just not jiving. But if you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you're going to see similar results across the league. You have to play consistently at that position, and that's what we're going to try to do."

Fields has thrown for 845 yards and four touchdowns this season. He's also rushed for 257 yards and three touchdowns.

The Jets signed the former Chicago Bears star to a two-year, $40 million contract in the offseason. Fields played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. He started six games before getting benched for Russell Wilson.

NYJ head coach Aaron Glenn benched Fields after halftime in Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers. Tyrod Taylor took over and wasn't great either, throwing two interceptions.

Taylor has thrown for 379 yards and three touchdowns in 2025. He also has three interceptions.

"I just think defense, special teams are doing better," Johnson said. "Defense is pretty good. If we could just complete a pass, it would look good. We got to complete some passes."

Taylor will start the rest of the season for the Jets, who will miss the playoffs again this season. All signs point toward NYJ trading or cutting Fields this offseason. He may never be a starter in the NFL again.

Even though the Jets are a walking disaster right now, Johnson still believes in Glenn.

"I do believe in Aaron," Johnson said. "I've known Arron since 1996 -- I was a fan, I've always been a fan of him. I see the way he handles a room. If I were a player, I would respond to him because he's the real deal. No BS, there's no second agendas -- what you're hearing is the truth. And a lot of time players don't get the truth; they get a lot of gobbledygook."

The Jets face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8. The Bengals are 3-4.
