Could the New York Jets swing a blockbuster trade to acquire Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson?

The New York Jets have to find a quarterback one way or another this offseason, unless they want to head into 2026 with Justin Fields under center again.

The problem is that while the Jets have the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft, there aren't going to be any signal-callers worth taking at that spot. New York could possibly nab Ty Simpson with its second first-rounder at No. 16, but even that's dicey.

Perhaps the Jets will try to acquire a quarterback via trade instead?

New York has been linked to Kyler Murray numerous times already this offseason, but that Murray isn't a name that should excite anyone at this point.

But what about Lamar Jackson?

Jackson is currently in an odd position with the Baltimore Ravens. Rumor has it he wasn't exactly locked in this past season, and he struggled mightily during the second half. It may have been due to injuries, but he certainly didn't look right.

With Jackson having just two years left on his deal, some have wondered if the Ravens could look to move him now, and Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon has pitched a trade in which the Jets would send both of their first-round picks to Baltimore in exchange for the two-time MVP.

"They're desperate, they have the talent to support him, they're flush with cap space, and they have extra draft capital this year," Gagnon wrote.

Well, I'm not sure I agree with New York having "the talent to support him," as it's really Garrett Wilson and not a whole lot else right now (although the Jets are expected to retain Breece Hall on a franchise tag).

Yes, the Jets have plenty of cap room, but I'm not sure free agents will be flocking to play for Gang Green.

Regardless, it's true that New York is set up pretty well for the future due to its financial situation and all of its draft picks, both this year and in 2027.

I just wonder if Jackson would actually waive his full no-trade clause to play for the Jets.

If New York can somehow make it happen, then acquiring Jackson would be one of the best things that could happen to the franchise this offseason.

It's fair to wonder about Jackson's durability, but if you have the opportunity to land a player like Jackson, you do it.
