The New York Jets will have some tough decisions to make at No. 2 in the NFL Draft. As things currently stand, it’s probably best for the Jets to go with the best player available. As things currently stand, there are a few players who could fit that description.
After a disappointing 2025 season that showed they don’t have enough talent, the Jets are in a position where targeting one position won’t fix everything. Instead, the focus should be on getting more talent to add to this roster.
Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports predicted exactly that to happen in his latest mock draft, projecting the Jets to go defense first before circling back to offense later in the round.
He had the Jets taking Arvell Reese at No. 2.
“This roster needs a ton of help on both sides of the ball, so this pick is about swinging big on pure talent and upside. As a 20-year-old prospect with impressive physical traits and limitless potential, Reese fits the bill. Whether he’s lined up on the edge or off the ball, Reese brings a ton of big-play potential to Aaron Glenn’s defense, a unit that was starved for splash plays and takeaways in 2025,” he wrote.
After selecting Reese, Easterling predicted that New York would go with Jordyn Tyson, who many view as the best receiver in this draft.
“A quarterback is possible here, but I’m betting the Jets would rather keep building up the roster around their future quarterback instead of reaching for QB2 in a weak class. Garrett Wilson is one of the league’s best receivers, but the Jets could use an upgrade at the WR2 spot. Tyson’s route-running prowess and ability to create consistent separation and make big plays after the catch would make him the ideal candidate.”
Reese would be an instant start on the defensive side of the football, while Tyson would give Garrett Wilson a legitimate running mate on the offensive end of the football.
I don’t think any fan would or should be upset if this is how the first round went for New York. It will have a chance to take Reese at No. 2, but Tyson could certainly go before No. 16.
