The New York Jets have the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and they are widely expected to draft a QB.
It's early, but NFL analyst Alex Kay of Bleacher Report believes the Jets will draft Oregon QB Dante Moore.
While Moore has not declared for the 2026 NFL Draft yet, he's expected to make that announcement once Oregon's season ends.
"No pick is more important than the No. 2 overall one New York will make in the first round," Kay wrote. "That selection will allow the organization to finally land an elite quarterback prospect after years of dismal play at the position.
"Although the Jets don't have the best track record when it comes to their recent QB selections in the top-five—Zach Wilson, their choice at No. 2 in 2021, and Sam Darnold, the No. 3 overall pick in 2018, each lasted three miserable seasons in the Big Apple before moving on—they would be foolish to punt on a chance to nab Dante Moore when they get on the clock."
The Jets started three QBs this season: Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook. All three guys played poorly, which is why New York will draft a QB in the 2026 draft.
Moore threw for 3,280 yards and 28 touchdowns this season for Oregon. He also had 184 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, leading the Ducks to a stellar 13-1 record.
The Jets went 3-14 this season. They averaged only 17.6 points per game. That was 29th in the NFL.
Some people believe Moore should avoid going to the Jets, who have been a walking disaster for years. The Las Vegas Raiders have the first pick in the 2026 draft and will likely select Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza. Moore is the consensus second pick in the NFL world.
It will be interesting to see who the Jets select with the second pick in the 2026 draft. All signs point toward a QB being taken.
