The New York Jets have been predicted to make a massive trade this offseason.
NFL analyst Aaron Schatz of ESPN thinks the Jets will trade for Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray.
The Cardinals are expected to trade Murray this offseason, while the Jets need a QB.
"The Jets will trade for Kyler Murray and give him his second chance in the NFL," Schatz wrote. "Murray is a bad fit for teams that want to run a lot of under-center offense, but the Jets ran the eighth-most shotgun or pistol sets through Week 17 in 2025. A trade for Murray's big contract would likely cost very little in draft capital."
The Jets started three QBs this season: Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook. All three QBs played poorly.
Meanwhile, Murray appeared in only five games this season for the Cardinals because of an injury. He went 2-3 and finished with 962 passing yards, six passing touchdowns, three interceptions, 173 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
A two-time Pro Bowler, Murray signed a five-year, $230 million extension with the Cardinals in 2022. He has 20,460 passing yards, 121 passing touchdowns, 60 interceptions, 3,193 rushing yards and 32 rushing touchdowns in the NFL.
The Jets have been a walking disaster for decades. They went 3-14 this season and became the first team in NFL history to not record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points within a single season.
Gang Green started the season 0-7, traded stars Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams and fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks.
We have seen plenty of players rejuvenate their careers with new teams, so it's possible Murray could become a star again with the Jets, who have a talented WR in Garrett Wilson. It will be fascinating to see what New York does to address its QB spot.
The Jets have the second pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, so they could very well draft a kid from college.
