The New York Jets are absolutely loaded with draft capital this offseason, possessing four picks in the first two rounds next month.
The Jets own the No. 2 overall selection and also No. 16 on Day 1, so they should be able to land a couple of impact players right off the bat.
But is there anyone New York should deftly avoid with its top pick?
Michael Nania of Jets X-Factor thinks so, warning Gang Green to avoid taking Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey at No. 2.
Nania goes as far to say that any team that selects Bailey over Ohio State star Arvell Reese would be "committing football malpractice."
I'm not sure I agree with that statement. Like, at all. But Nania goes on to explain his reasoning.
"He simply doesn’t hold up physically," Nania wrote while showing film of Bailey against Utah tackle Spencer Fano. "... He’s driven backwards and to the perimeter entirely too much, offering little to no resistance. This is a common theme for the Texas Tech defensive lineman."
Nania added that Bailey also frequently destroys "defensive integrity" by going off script a bit too much.

Nania also feels we can't look too deep into Bailey's gaudy numbers due to the fact that he played in the Big 12, which isn't quite on the same level as the Big Ten or the SEC.
I call bologna on all of that.
There are also plenty of negatives to point out when it comes to Reese, such as him not actually being productive or getting significant playing time until his final season at Ohio State and him not even having a true position. He will be an edge rusher on the NFL level, but he played a lot of off-ball linebacker with the Buckeyes.
In spite of his "deficiencies," Bailey racked up 52 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks in 2025. Reese, meanwhile, finished with 69 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.
I don't want to hear the argument that Bailey didn't face strong enough competition, either. Plenty of great pass rushers have come schools far smaller than Texas Tech. Khalil Mack went to Buffalo. Maxx Crosby went to Eastern Michigan.
The list goes on and on.
Personally, I feel that the Jets would be making a grave mistake taking Reese at No. 2, but that appears to be the direction in which they are headed.
