Times are actually exciting around the New York Jets, something we haven't really said in the past few years. It seems like Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey have done a really good job putting together a competent offense, so long as Geno Smith does what's needed at the quarterback position.
If Glenn realizes that Smith isn't the guy for the job during the year, it's very likely that he's going to have to make a decision to play someone else.
That doesn't mean it's going to be rookie Cade Klubnik, but the Clemson product is doing whatever he can to ensure he has an opportunity to play one way or another in the future. From the sound of things, he's taking his job very seriously and looking to show the Jets that he's ready to make an impact.
“We had some space issues doing the walk-through in the weight room,” Klubnik said. “We’re running about three-yard routes, but it’s better than nothing…
“We want to make sure that we’re clean when we get out there,” Klubnik said, per the Post. “We’re all studying in our rooms by ourselves anyway. We’re up until 10 or 11 o’clock studying and making sure we have all our notes down and making sure we’re clean when we get to the next day. I want Omar to go have the best day he can have. And I want him to be clean and confident, to go run the best routes he has and not have to be thinking a lot. When I’m out there, I don’t want to be thinking about a million different things. I’m going to. But as much as I can be locked in on what my job is and I want our team to be able to go execute. So a few of us just got together, nothing special, just kind of walked through some of the stuff, just a little bit extra.”
It's always great to hear that when guys are sticking up for their brothers, especially when they have just met recently.
In the past, it didn't feel like these are comments players on the Jets would have made, because there hasn't really been a sense of brotherhood on this roster for quite some time now. Hopefully, this is just the start of that change, as the Jets need all the help they can get.
