It was a very busy week for the New York Jets, and Charlie Baduini and I of Jets Roundtable had a lot to discuss in the latest New York Jets podcast.

To start things off, we obviously got right into the Sauce Gardner trade. Baduini and I understood the reasoning behind the trade, and I was frankly very intrigued about what Baduini had to say.

His biggest point was the simple fact that Gardner and the Jets have struggled over the past few seasons, meaning that it made sense to move on from him for two first-round picks.

When we got into the Quinnen Williams trade, we shared the same thoughts on that as well.

While the Jets obviously lost two of their best defensive players, if not clearly the top two, with how poorly the defense has looked since Robert Saleh left, and even frankly a bit before Saleh was fired, how can the Jets justify keeping both of those players on the roster when they got three first round picks in return, as well as two young players, which we got into next.

Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, out of the University of Texas and a member of the Indianapolis Colts, was viewed as a very good player coming out of college, but hasn't found much success in the NFL. That could be for a multitude of reasons, as the Colts have started to see success throughout the year and have multiple wide receivers who have stepped up for them in a big way.

The same can be said for John Metchie, and Baduini and I believe there's even a possibility that both of them could end up being WR3s or WR4s in the future.

The biggest question for the Jets is centered around what the situation looks like with the draft capital moving forward.

Another thing Baduini and I agreed on is the fact that if the Colts give Daniel Jones a massive contract this offseason and run him back out as their starting quarterback, there's a possibility that the pick in the 2027 NFL Draft could be very valuable for the Jets.

It's evident that the Jets had to take some sort of risk in their deals, and did just that.

What a strange week it's genuinely been for the New York Jets, and while their moves made sense, some of the moves they didn't make might be a little more confusing than they might seem.
