I'd pass on this if I were the Jets.
If the New York Jets are going to move on from superstar wide receiver Garrett Wilson, they can't walk away with less than at least one first-round pick.
I'd go so far as to say they need to look for much more than that, but the wide receiver market can be tough to evaluate at times.
Still, if the Jets end up with anything less than a first-round pick, and to me, anything less than two first-round picks, I would view this as a major disappointment.
There's ultimately a lot that has to happen over the next couple of weeks for the Jets to determine what they want to do with Wilson, and I'm still of the belief that trading him doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
A better plan is to sit him down and figure out how things can improve over the next couple of years. Reports indicate Wilson is growing frustrated with the organization, so it's also possible he's the one who wants out this time around. Wilson has never shown us anything to suggest that he doesn't want to play in New York, but at the end of the day, this is professional sports, and guys switch up all the time. If Wilson gets traded, a couple of teams make a lot more sense than others. One squad in particular that could use Wilson is the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers, one of the NFL's better teams, have a strong chance to win a Super Bowl if healthy.
However, they're banged up at wide receiver, leading Bleacher Report to suggest a trade between the two.
San Francisco 49ers receive: WR Garrett Wilson
New York Jets receive: 2027 first- and fourth-round draft picks
“The San Francisco 49ers remain a Super Bowl favorite despite their disappointing 29-20 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7. The team's first defeat of 2026 did highlight some roster inadequacies, though, with the most notable being at the wide receiver position.
“San Francisco's receiving corps has dealt with a slew of injuries this year, with the issue coming to a head over the weekend when San Francisco was forced to rely on the likes of Jacob Cowing, Jordan Watkins and Brandin Cooks to serve as Brock Purdy's top receiving options,” Alex Kay of Bleacher Report wrote.
One important part that the Jets should consider in a trade with the 49ers is those injuries. Because the 49ers have this many injuries and a chance to win a Super Bowl, there's really no excuse for why the Jets can't get multiple assets from them in return.
It isn't like Wilson is some fringe star receiver, as there's a legitimate argument to be made that he's among the best in football.
With those injuries and how well he's played over the past couple of years, the Jets should be able to get a major return from a team like San Francisco.
