An NFL legend has warned the New York Jets about selecting certain players in the NFL Draft.
The New York Jets are absolutely loaded with capital heading into the NFL Draft, possessing four picks in the top 44.
The Jets own pick Nos. 2, 16, 33 and 44, and with a plethora of needs up and down the roster, they need to be sure to choose wisely.
Legendary NFL coach Jimmy Johnson sent a warning to New York in that regard, advising the team against taking a gamble on unproven prospects with high potential rather than just making safe picks.
"It's like the old saying: Money coming from gambling easily disappears," Johnson said, via ESPN's Rich Cimini. "Money from hard work continually grows. So you can't be risky with those picks just because you've got extra."
Johnson didn't specify any names in particular, but it's hard not to see this as an argument in favor of David Bailey over Arvell Reese at No. 2.

"You can build on this if -- if -- you realize the value of the picks," Johnson added.
New York has not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 campaign, representing the longest active drought in the NFL.
The Jets went just 3-14 in 2025 and last posted a winning season in 2015.
With head coach Aaron Glenn under intense pressure entering his second year as head coach, Gang Green does seem more likely to select players that can help the ballclub immediately.
New York cancelled its top-30 visit with Bailey, reportedly due to the fact that the Jets already have all of the information they need on him. Plus, general managers around the league are expecting New York to select the Texas Tech star.
Unfortunately for the Jets, this is a very thin quarterback class, so they may not be able to land their franchise signal-caller this week. However, they can do their best to ensure they make the proper picks elsewhere.
