Jon Gruden reveals if the New York Jets contacted him.

The one and only Jon Gruden has revealed whether the New York Jets contacted him about joining Aaron Glenn's staff.

A report came out stating that the Jets reached out to Gruden, who told New York no. However, Gruden said on WDAE that the rumor was false.

"There's a lot of reports we're not going to get into," Gruden said. "There's a lot of stupid rumors out there. Some of these reports are ridiculous. Let's just say that there was never anything from the Jets and I wish them well in their search for a new offensive coordinator."

Gruden lost his job as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders when offensive emails he had sent surfaced during the 2021 season. He has done some consulting with NFL teams since then, but he hasn't returned to coaching.

The 62-year-old Gruden went 117-112 in his coaching career, which included two stints as coach of the Raiders and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers won Super Bowl XXXVII against the Raiders.

The Jets need a new OC after firing Tanner Engstrand, who followed Glenn to New York from the Detroit Lions. Darrell Bevell, Ronald Curry, Frank Reich, Greg Roman and Lunda Wells have spoken with the Jets.

Under Engstrand, the Jets' offense was a walking disaster. They were 29th in the NFL in points per game and 32nd in passing yards.

New York started three QBs in 2025: Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook. The three QBs combined for 2,777 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes.

Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers -- who was released by the Jets after Glenn was hired -- finished the 2025 season with 3,322 passing yards and 24 passing touchdowns with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Jets are the first NFL team in history to record no defensive interceptions and lose five straight games by 23 or more points in a single season.

Glenn's Jets have the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. They are widely expected to select a QB.

Fields will likely be released this offseason, Cook is under contract for next season and Taylor becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
