Longtime New York Talk Host Suggests Jets Should Trade Garrett Wilson

He has some points.

The NFL trade deadline is about a week and a half away, giving teams like the New York Jets a chance to see what they can get on the market.

The Jets are in a position to move on from some of their better players, though that comes with a lot of risk.

Ultimately, the Jets aren't exactly the most talented team in football, and while there have been some promising signs over the past couple of years from some of their young players, the reality is that New York can use a lot of those guys in the future, even if things haven't been promising with them on the roster for multiple years now.

Unfortunately, that one guy would be Garrett Wilson.

Wilson has proven throughout his career with the Jets that he can be among the best wide receivers in the NFL at any given moment. However, he's starting to seem a bit frustrated, and if it leads to a trade request sooner rather than later, the Jets might want to get ahead of it.

I'm still against moving on from Wilson and believe that if the Jets are going to trade a player of his caliber, they have to ensure they get a perfect return for him.

It's also important to recognize that moving on from Wilson won't solve any of the offensive issues we see, and if anything, New York will struggle on that side of the ball even more over the next couple of seasons. However, one longtime New York talk show host doesn't believe that should be a problem. He stated that the Jets need to move on from Wilson and should trade everybody on the roster.

"I think the New York Jets should aggressively shop everybody they have that other teams covet, and that includes Garrett Wilson," Craig Carton said, H/T PFSN.

"I'm trading everybody on this roster," Carton added. "Look, I love Garrett Wilson. Three straight years of a thousand yards to start his career. Look, he got paid, which is why he's not complaining publicly. And he did say yesterday… that obviously losing sucks, but he loves being here. He'd rather win, though."

Wilson did come out and say that he wants to win, and from his perspective, that's more than fair. Everybody can understand why a guy like Wilson wants to start competing in playoff games, since he's one of the better players in this league and deserves a chance.

However, it's also fair to mention that the Jets aren't exactly giving him an opportunity to do that in the immediate future. Some of that is Wilson's own fault, while most of it isn't.

Regardless, Wilson could be traded within the next week and a half, which could lead to one of the NFL's more interesting decisions soon.
