New York Jets Considered Worst Landing Spot for 3 QBs cover image

The New York Jets aren't a good landing spot for three QBs. That's at least what Bleacher Report thinks.

The New York Jets are the place where QBs go to die, even if they are talented.

With that said, NFL writer Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report believes the Jets are the worst landing spot for three QBs: Kirk Cousins, Justin Fields and Tua Tagovailoa.

Cousins and Fields are expected to be free agents this offseason and Knox thinks both guys should stay away from the Jets. Fields will obviously not return to New York because he's currently on the team. The Jets are expected to release him in the offseason.

The Miami Dolphins are expected to trade Tagovailoa this offseason. Tagovailoa can't control where he lands because he doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract, but Knox doesn't like Tagovailoa landing in New York.

"If Cousins is released, and the Jets come calling, he should refuse to answer the phone," Knox wrote. The Jets have a lackluster offensive supporting cast and aren't built to compete in the AFC East in the near future. Cousins, who is a 37-year-old pure pocket passer, should be seeking a strong skill group and a chance to get back to the postseason right away.

"If Fields wants a chance to revitalize his NFL stock, he shouldn't be interested in a second season with the Jets. He proved to be a poor fit for Tanner Engstrand's offense during his first nine starts, and things aren't likely to change unless New York can massively upgrade its roster in the coming months.

"Tagovailoa would also face the challenge of ending the Jets' ongoing parade of quarterback futility—while simultaneously trying to reinvigorate his own NFL stock. Doing all of that under the microscope of Jets fans and the New York media would likely end in disaster for Tagovailoa."

The Jets haven't had a franchise quarterback since Joe Namath. They were projected to select Dante Moore with the second pick in the 2026 draft, but the youngster is heading back to Oregon.

New York started three QBs this season: Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook. All three guys played poorly. Fields, Taylor and Cook combined for 2,777 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes.

It will be fascinating to see who is starting at QB for the Jets next season. The franchise desperately needs a star at the position.
