The New York Jets have a new DT.
The New York Jets drafted DT Darrell Jackson with the 103rd overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Jackson played for Florida State from 2023 to 2025 after playing for Maryland in 2021 and Miami [Florida] in 2022.
For Florida State last season, Jackson put up 13 solo tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack. He finished his college career with 55 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.
"While he’s an enormous interior presence with impressive physical features, Jackson’s inconsistencies are partially rooted in flawed fundamentals and technique," Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote about Jackson. "He plays too upright and with inconsistent base width/block take-on, making him more easily cleared from gaps. He might never become a tree stump at the point, but he could see vast improvement in his shed-and-control with quicker hands, improved upper-body power and a full-time move to odd-front end. The tape is uneven with a floor of average backup, but Jackson’s size and length could be considered unmined gold by some teams."
The Jets went 3-14 last season in Year 1 of the Aaron Glenn era. They became the first team in NFL history to not record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points within a single season.
Glenn is going to call defensive plays next season. Does that mean the Jets will be better on defense? Only time will tell.
So far in this year's draft, the Jets have taken EDGE David Bailey, TE Kenyon Sadiq, WR Omar Cooper Jr., CB D'Angelo Ponds and Jackson.
