The New York Jets have the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. They were widely expected to select QB Dante Moore, but the youngster is heading back to Oregon.
With Moore off the table, who should the Jets target at QB? Ryan Dunleavy of The Post linked the franchise to 10 options:
Alabama's Ty Simpson, Ole Miss' Trinidad Chambliss, Miami's Carson Beck, LSU's Garrett Nussmeier, Arizona Cardinals' Kyler Murray, Atlanta Falcons' Kirk Cousins, Green Bay Packers Malik Willis, Miami Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa, San Francisco 49ers' Mac Jones and New York Giants' Russell Wilson.
The Jets started three QBs this season: Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook. All three guys played poorly.
Fields will likely be released this offseason, while Taylor and Cook could return to the Jets next season.
Fields, Taylor and Brady Cook combined for 2,777 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes this season.
The Jets have been a walking disaster for years. ManyNYJ fans believe head coach Aaron Glenn should be fired since his team made putrid NFL history twice this season. New York is the first team in NFL history to not record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points within a single season.
If New York struggles again next season, Glenn could be fired. For now, though, his job is safe since he signed a five-year contract last offseason.
The Jets went 3-14 this season. They traded Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys for multiple future draft picks.
New York must get the QB spot right this offseason. If they don't, the franchise will have another disastrous campaign in 2026.
Glenn released Aaron Rodgers after getting hired and went out of his way to sign Fields. Do we really trust Glenn to pick the right QB again? Only time will tell.
