The New York Jets have been predicted to start the 2026 NFL season 1-3.
New York begins next season with games against the Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears.
NFL analyst Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report thinks the Jets will beat the Titans but lose to the Packers, Lions and Bears.
"It's not exactly breaking news to say that the New York Jets will be a bad team in 2026, and Gang Green will probably be 1-3 at best four games into the season," Davenport wrote. "A season-opening trip to Nashville to face the Titans is their best bet for a win in September, but after that the Jets host the Green Bay Packers and take a tour of the NFC North with back-to-back road games against the Lions and Chicago Bears."
New York went 3-14 last season and became the first team in NFL history to not record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points within a single season. It was an ugly season.
In the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jets did pretty well. They took David Bailey, Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Ponds, Darrell Jackson Jr., Cade Klubnik, Anez Cooper and VJ Payne.
Before the draft, the Jets acquired Geno Smith from the Raiders, Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins and T'Vondre Sweat from the Titans and signed Demario Davis and Tim Patrick.
All signs point toward the Jets missing the playoffs again next season. However, they shouldn't be the laughingstock of the league again after having a strong draft and offseason transaction cycle.
"Honestly, just the fact that they brought a proven veteran in like Geno and then we drafted some really good guys … let me know that, OK, we're really trying to build something here," Breece Hall said after signing his extension with the Jets. "It definitely meant a lot for me because they showed me and told me that they wanted me to be a part of this thing, so I'm definitely happy to be here."
