New York Jets Select Arch Manning in New 2027 NFL Mock Draft

Arch Manning on the New York Jets would be fantastic.

The New York Jets land Texas QB Arch Manning in a new 2027 NFL mock draft from Bleacher Report.

Brent Sobleski has the Jets taking Manning with the first overall pick in next year's draft.

Manning has played in 25 games for Texas. He has 4,132 passing yards and 35 passing touchdowns while completing 62.3% of his passes.

"Manning showed significant growth during his first full-season as a starter," Sobleski wrote. "By cleaning up his footwork and mechanics, his status will legitimately reflect his standing as a top quarterback prospect. Name recognition and raw talent will only take him so far."

The Jets acquired Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. Smith led the NFL in interceptions last season and hasn't been good since his early Seattle Seahawks days.

New York, as tough as it sounds, is best suited to be awful again next season so the team can get a high pick in the 2027 draft and get a QB like Manning.

Smith enters next season with 22,168 passing yards, 124 passing touchdowns and 89 career interceptions in the NFL. His starting record is 42-56-0.

Smith's best seasons in the NFL came with the Seahawks in 2022 and 2023. The veteran made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and 2023 and won the 2022 AP Comeback Player of the Year Award.

The Jets went 3-14 last season. Frank Reich is the new OC. He replaces Tanner Engstrand. Smith, meanwhile, is replacing Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor.

Unless Smith turns back the clock and plays as he did with the Seahawks, all signs point toward the Jets missing the playoffs again next season. This franchise needs to lose enough games to get a top pick in the 2027 draft so that a QB like Manning can be taken.

In Year 2 of the Aaron Glenn era, the Jets will face the Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Bills.

It will be fascinating to see how the Jets and Manning perform in 2026.

"Gang Green will enter this season knowing it's an evaluation year," Sobleski wrote. "This offseason, the team's front office did an excellent job raising the roster's talent floor. At the same time, Geno Smith is not the solution at quarterback. He may not even finish out the 2026 campaign since the Jets may want to see what fourth-round rookie Cade Klubnik can do before entering next offseason."
