The New York Jets own the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but the problem is that there won't be any quarterbacks available to select at that spot.
Typical Jets, right?
Fernando Mendoza is basically a shoo-in to go No. 1 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders, and Dante Moore decided to return to Oregon for another season.
Now, New York is faced with a painstaking decision. What need should the Jets fill at No. 2? They certainly have a lot of them. Or should they just trade down?
Well, one name that has been routinely floated as a possible for Gang Green with their top draft pick is Miami defensive end Rueben Bain, who was tabbed as a possible No. 1 pick at the beginning of the 2025 college football season.
However, Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon seems to believe that Bain's name and reputation far exceed is actual talent and production, naming him among six players who are likely to be overdrafted this April.

Rebilas-Imagn Images."This is one of those situations in which you wonder if a prospect has just been in the public consciousness for so long that it's a given he'll become an NFL star," Gagnon wrote. "He still lacks speed and length, which can't be developed. But as 'a name' at a premium position, someone will likely reach for him in the top six, especially with an expected run on edges up there."
The Jets could definitely stand to aid their pass rush, as they totaled a meager 26 sacks this past year. But is Bain the answer?
Bain's primary issue is that he doesn't really have a clear position. Some view him as an edge rusher whereas others think he is more of a 3-tech who will be playing inside a lot of the time on the NFL level.
The 21-year-old racked up 54 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks and an interception with the Hurricanes this past season, helping them reach the National Championship Game.
Personally, I like Bain a whole lot and think he could become a superstar in the pros, but I also cannot deny the caveats that come with him.
To be perfectly honest, New York's best course of action here is probably trading down to acquire as much draft capital as possible. There are plenty of good pass rushers in this draft.
