Could New York Jets RB Breece Hall win the 2026 NFL rushing title?

One NFL analyst thinks New York Jets RB Breece Hall could win the 2026 rushing title.

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report believes Hall could have a special 2026 season for the Jets.

"Although the New York Jets have struggled offensively in recent years, Breece Hall's supporting cast can help him claim this year's rushing title," Moton wrote. "Hall will run behind a cohesive offensive line that returns four of five starters from the previous season. The New York Jets allowed guard John Simpson to walk in free agency and signed Dylan Parham, who's been a decent starter for the Las Vegas Raiders over the previous four years."

Hall finished the 2025 season with 1,065 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, 36 receptions, 350 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

A talented playmaker, Hall has 18 rushing touchdowns and nine receiving touchdowns with the Jets, who hired Frank Reich to be their offensive coordinator. Reich replaces Tanner Engstrand.

"The Jets' new offensive coordinator, Frank Reich, had a rushing champion lead his offense in 2021, when Jonathan Taylor ran for 1,811 yards," Moton wrote. "Since 2017, the 64-year-old play-caller has fielded three top-seven ground attacks in seven seasons. Also, if Gang Green doesn't work out a new deal with Hall, he'll have extra motivation to rack up big numbers in a franchise-tag year before free agency."

The Jets placed the franchise tag on Hall. Hall's tag is the nonexclusive version ($14.293 million), meaning he can negotiate with other teams and sign an offer sheet. The Jets have the right of first refusal and would receive two first-round draft picks as compensation if they decline to match, a prohibitive price for a running back.

Hall and the Jets have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term contract. Let's see if one gets done.

In the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jets did pretty well. They took David Bailey, Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Ponds, Darrell Jackson Jr., Cade Klubnik, Anez Cooper and VJ Payne.

New York acquired Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. Smith will be the Jets' starting QB next season.
