This is huge news for the Jets.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Jets will not fire head coach Aaron Glenn after this season.

The Jets are 1-7. They have the worst record in the NFL and traded Sauce Gardner to the Colts and Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys at the trade deadline.

Even though the Jets have been a walking disaster this season, Glenn has a future in New York.

"Sources paint a clear picture for Gang Green: It won't. In other words, there are no plans for a one-and-done result. Glenn was in lock-step with Mougey on each move, with the idea that they would continue to build the roster based on their joint vision going forward," Rapoport wrote. "Glenn won't be judged during the 2025 season by what the team's record is, sources say, keeping in mind that he lost two of his best players and must lead a locker room that watched Gardner and Williams leave.

"Further, sources say they anticipate a far longer stay."

Jets owner Woody Johnson is a huge fan of Glenn. After all, Glenn played for the Jets during his NFL playing career.

The Jets will probably draft a quarterback in the 2026 draft. Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor have started for New York this season and both players have played poorly.

After the trade deadline, the Jets now have three additional first-round picks and one additional second-round pick over the next two drafts. They have eight total picks in the first two rounds of the '26 and '27 drafts.

That's huge for Glenn and Co., who can use those picks to rebuild the team.

The Jets got their first win of the season in Week 8 against the Bengals. They face the Browns, Patriots, Ravens, Falcons, Dolphins, Jaguars, Saints, Patriots and Bills to finish the season.

Glenn will start Fields in Week 10 against the Browns. The Jets are best suited to lose every game they have left this season so they can secure the first pick in the 2026 draft and select a quarterback.
